At the Climate Hub Davos, a side Event by GreenUp in collaboration with WEF and the community of Davos we have been invited to curate a Circular Exhibit and show 12 brands as examples of nature based solutions and upcycling design.
Nature based solutions

- Avina Kaplan from Inversa leathers will show an interesting example of using invasive species like the lion fish for luxury items like shoes and bags and thus restoring to the protection of marine habitats.
- Roman Wyss from Urbnc3 will show plant based leathers and how they aim to reduce the abrasion of shoes, by using a compostable material
- Daniel Kaldis from Maison Blanche will show new collection from Yannik Zamboni, who is an early mover in the high fashion by using cradle to cradle materials, vegan dyes with radical transparency in the supply chain.
- Elisabeth Meier brought new clothes made of Vinatur and uses the concept of capsule wardrobe with long basics and sharing of accessoires as another circular strategy.
- Mycrobez shows how agricultural waste can be transformed to light-weight, sturdy and customizable packaging material which has an enormour potential to replace plastics.
- With Ananda Zurich we show another example of how agricultural waste can be used to make a plant-based leather alternative.
- Monica Otten from Peruda Skincare will explain how she sources ingredients from tropical forests and combines them with rice powder and other reclaimed materials from industrial food waste.
Upcycling design
- Emilce Gubser from Amunemi creates beautiful bags from leather of discarded sofas. This example also has a great potential as 8 sofas are discarded per day in Zürich.
- Schallplattenuhr.ch shows a clever upcycling use of Vinyl records.
- Veronica from Precious Plastic Zürich will show how they collect plastic ways in a way that allows to make high quality granules with a new chair that is made from Covid masks
- Denisa Svachova shows new upcycling designs such as a beer bottle that has been transformed to grow avocado plants in a functional and elegant way.
Find out more in our presentation with lots of inspiring videos, graphic display of the circular strategies of each brand and some „call to actions“ which will hopefully result in concrete actions within the WEF community!
